Northfield, IL’s biggest park not just for sports

Sometimes the most obvious attractions are not the most valuable. Willow Park, the larger of two parks in Northfield located at the corner of Wagner and Willow, offers plenty of playing fields. While these tennis courts, soccer, football, and baseball fields are nice to have around, the true gem is the open space.
Well kept and marked by its namesake, the open fields of the park provide great space when you’re away from sports. You could have a picnic, toss a Frisbee, or just relax. I was impressed by how isolated I could feel from the cover of the trees. Even though it is very near Willow Road, the park feels remote. So next time you visit the park, forget the sports fields and relax in the grass.
