Northfield’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month
October 14th, 2006The Circuit Court of Cook County Second Municipal District Family Violence Coordinating Council and the Northfield Township are co-sponsoring a an event to promote Domestic Violence Awareness month. The event is called “Out of Silence, Into Awareness” and will be held on Oct. 20 from 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Glenview Police Department, 2500 E. Lake Ave., Glenview. The primary focus of the event will be to give an opportunity for those in attendance to learn about the effective community responses in place to assist victims of domestic violence. Not only will there be a panel discussion, but a resource fair as well, where professionals will be available to serve victims and their families. The event is a great opportunity for professionals as well as concerned residents to gain knowledge and information about help available for victims. Not only do these professionals assist victims, but they also offer assistance to their families, even to perpetrators. Everyone needs help from time to time, and taking action about the need for help is the first step. After all, that’s what they’re there for.
